Ahilyanagar – A major change has been made in the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana to provide safer, more durable and sustainable transportation facilities to the citizens of rural areas. Henceforth, the roads to be built under the scheme will be made of cement concrete. This will eliminate the problem of asphalt roads and permanent potholes that deteriorate during the monsoon and will provide great relief to the villagers including farmers.

Substantial funds approved for the district

A total of 60 cement concrete roads will be constructed in Ahilyanagar district in the financial year 2024-25. These roads will be about 271 kilometers long and a fund of Rs 379 crore 77 lakh has been approved for this. Due to the work of these roads, communication between the main road of the villages and farm roads, markets and government facility centers will become easier.

Cement concrete instead of asphalt

Earlier, rural roads were mainly made of asphalt. However, due to damage caused by rain from time to time, water from the drains accumulating on the road and creating obstructions to traffic, the life of these roads did not last long. Therefore, only a few hundred meters of roads in the village were concreted. Now this method has changed and emphasis is being placed on creating long-term facilities by concreting the entire roads.

Speeding up the tender process for roads

The tender process for 52 out of the 60 approved roads in Ahilyanagar district has been completed so far. Therefore, the actual work will begin soon. The tender process for the remaining roads is underway and it is expected to be completed soon.
