Mumbai, Saturday, 19 July 2025 : If you have lost money due to online fraud, then do not panic. Now there is a number where you can get your money back by calling. This is not a rumor, but a confirmed information given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself in the Legislative Assembly.
Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Fadnavis said that although the incidents of cyber fraud have increased in the state, the government has also made strong preparations to combat it. In 2021, only 2.75 percent of the amount was recovered from such fraud, but now the same percentage has gone up to 16. That is, in a way, success has started in saving the money of the citizens. Although this is still insufficient progress, it is a strong step in the right direction.
The Chief Minister said that if any person has been cheated online and his money has been transferred somewhere, he can call on 1930 or 1945. Both these helpline numbers have been started by the government for cyber fraud. By reporting on this number, the money can be traced with the help of cutting-edge technology and often it is successful in stopping it.
The Maharashtra government has started an advanced project for cyber security. In this, facilities like Digital Forensic Unit, Cyber Response Team, Security Operation Center have been developed. Special software has also been purchased to prevent hacking. In the next five years, 5,000 police officers will be given special training in cyber security. The government has expressed a clear determination to stop cyber crimes by integrating all these initiatives into the form of Cyber Corporation.
The Chief Minister also said that due to such projects, not only financial fraud but also other serious crimes have decreased. In 2024, there was a 6.75 percent decrease in total crimes, and the incidence of crimes like murder, robbery, forced theft, and housebreaking has also decreased.
One thing is clear from all these efforts — cyber crimes are no longer limited to cities. They have reached the common people in villages. And that is why it is essential to control this in time. It is expected that these steps of the government will protect the money and trust of the citizens.
