Pune, Friday, 25 July 2025 :- For the past few days in Maharashtra, the rains have been falling from time to time and in some parts of the area, it is also felt. In this situation, everyone has noticed how much water reservoir has been stored in the dams in the state. Let’s look at a detailed picture of the percentage of water storage in major dams in the state till July 23, 2025.
Considering the current status of major dams across the state, the Ujani dam is at the forefront and it is 94.74%. The useful water reservoir of the Jaikwadi dam is 78.34%. Following this, 71.15%of the Koyna Dam, 61.87%in Gangapur and 55.96%water reservoir in the mill.
Apart from this, some other important dams are filled with 76.46%, Nilwande 87.18%. Konkan and western Maharashtra have a good effect on these dams.
Water storage
In the Nashik region, the Darna dam is good and it is filled with 82.61%. However, the Palakhed dam is 51%, Hatnar 33%, Aner 29.41%, and the Panjra Dam is 100%full.
The dams in Ahilyanagar district are completely filled, while Bhojapur dam is 91.69%, the Dimbe Dam is 77.19%.
Dams that are important for the water supply of Mumbai Municipal Corporation – Modak Sagar is almost 99.99%, Tansa 98.61%, and Central Vaitaran 94.25%. Therefore, the water concern for Mumbai is not currently on.
In Konkan region, rice dam is 88.47%, upper Vaitaran 94.10%, Morabe Dam is 67.33%. In the Pune region, the Chasakman Dam 83.47%, 80.80%, Mulshi 78.07%, and Khadakwas dam is 53.12%.
Status in South Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha
The Radhanagari dam near Kolhapur is 92.59%, while the Almatti Dam in Karnataka is 76.91%. The impact of rainfall in Marathwada is somewhat low. The Yeldari dam here is 61.05%, Majalgaon only 12.47%, Terana 68.92%, Manjara 84.73%.
The situation of the Gosikhurd dam in Vidarbha is alarming and it is only 18.97%. The Khadakpurna dam is 14.25%, while Katepurna is 36.61%.
Although average water storage is satisfactory across the state, there is still a need to increase water storage in some parts, especially in Marathwada and Vidarbha. There is a few more days expecting good rainfall, according to which the level of the dam is expected to increase.
