Pune, Friday, 25 July 2025 :- The construction of the much -awaited Purandar Airport in Pune district is now gaining momentum. Local farmers have responded overwhelmingly after the recently announced land acquisition package by the state government. In particular, in the first phase, about 100 farmers have agreed to give their land.
This consent has not been easily received – the government’s ‘first -coming priority’ policy and the promise of four times the assurance of the government have created an atmosphere of faith among the villagers. According to the District Collector’s office, it is estimated that more and more farmers from seven villages will submit consent in the last few days.

Which villages and how much land?
A total of 2673 hectares of land will be acquired for the airport in seven villages of Kumbharvalan, Ekkapur, Udachi Wadi, Munjwadi, Khanwadi, Pargaon Mead and Vanpuri. A meeting was held in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently to make the process tangible. The meeting has finally approved the land acquisition plan, and the collectors have also been instructed to start the process immediately.
Separate plan for ‘aerodyut’
268 hectares (about 670 acres) land will be reserved for the aerodynamic project developed near the airport. The scheme is also attracted to the landowners in the area that 10 percent of the land will be returned in the form of developed plots.
The process of obtaining consent from the farmers is currently underway through the Saswadwad and the Collector’s Office. About 50 hectares of land will be edited from the composition so far.
The responsibility of MIDC
All the responsibilities, use, and planning of the plots developed after land acquisition have been entrusted to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). MIDC has been given the status of official ‘planning Authority’ for this project. Therefore, all the decisions will be dependent on MIDC’s planning, which will be for industrial, commercial or residential purposes.
