YouTube gives the reason why in a recent blog post. The number of individuals visiting the Trending Page has reduced over the last five years. The viewers are now more inclined to using recommendations, search results, Shorts, comments, and Community tab to discover what is trending.
Previously, the Trending Page used to be an effective method of finding something new. Due to improved personalised recommendations on YouTube, majority of the people watch videos on the Home Page in accordance with their interests. This change meant that the Trending Page has become a thing of less significance.

You will still be able to discover the trendy in another way.
Watch YouTube Charts is now to display the popular content. It already enumerates popular music videos, top podcasts of the week, and filming teasers and will profile other categories in the future.
Trending videos would continue displaying on Gaming Explore Page by fans of gaming.
On the Home Page, you will keep receiving custom video recommendations.
To discover new videos you can also go to the Explore Page, go to channels of your favourite creators or even by a subscriptions feed.
The Inspiration tab of the YouTube Studio will be available to creators and provide personalised ideas on content.
