Mercedes Benz has announced the launch of its new all electric CLA car in India. This car is not just a stylish sedan, but also equipped with advanced technology and a long range. Based on the company’s new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), the car claims to be a leader in terms of energy efficiency. In simple terms, Mercedes has created an electric vehicle that can cover more distances not only using a larger battery but also using less energy.
Range of over 750 km
The new electric CLA has a WLTP (Worldwide Lifetime Test) range of over 750 km. This range is quite remarkable for a sedan-sized car. According to the figures provided by the company, the vehicle uses only around 12 kWh of energy per 100 km, which is a normal rate for lightweight and aerodynamically efficient electric vehicles. This functionality helps give the vehicle a longer range and makes the driving experience smoother.
800-volt electrical architecture
Mercedes has implemented an 800-volt high-voltage system in the car. This change:

This system is not only beneficial for the car’s performance but also for reducing charging time.
320 kW DC fast charging
The new CLA will feature DC fast charging of up to 320 kW. According to the company, a range of around 400 km can be achieved in just 15 minutes of charging under ideal conditions. The long-range version will use a high-energy density silicon-oxide anode battery with a capacity of 85 kWh. Also, the initial price can be kept low by making the LFP battery option available in the future, making the CLA affordable for more people.
Mercedes’ in-house operating system
The new CLA will be the first Mercedes-Benz model to come with the MB.OS operating system. This chip-to-cloud platform gives full control over the vehicle’s performance and presents a personalized driving experience through AI. The cabin will feature a wide, glass-covered display setup similar to the Superscreen layout, which offers a grand experience like the EQS in a small car.
